As a candidate interested in pursuing an MBA or other graduate management degree in India you are faced with an important choice – which test or tests should you take to pursue the career of your dreams. Here are four reasons why you should take the NMAT by GMAC™ exam:

Finally, it is designed for your convenience

We know that you are busy and the task of registering for the test, taking the test and applying to school can be time consuming and stressful. So we’ve made it more convenient for you:

  1. Choosing a date, time and location of your convenience:A long testing window allows you to choose a convenient test date. The 75-day test window opens the first week of October and extends through the third week of December.
  2. Self-scheduling:You can choose your test appointment date, time and location in real-time based on the availability of seats at each test centre.
  3. Register for the NMAT by GMAC™ exam from your mobile – allowing you to register anytime and anywhere.
  4. Testing locations – you can choose from any of 48 conveniently located testing centers to take the exam
  5. Sending scores to up to 5 programmes for free.You can choose to select the list of schools/programmes you want to send your scores to before or after taking the exam. Up to 5 schools/programmes are included in your registration fee. However, you will be able to send your scores to more than 5 schools/programmes before or after you register for an additional fee.
  6. Applying to business schools after reviewing results.You can view your results and then decide to apply to business school or retake the test depending on your comfort with the results you’ve obtained.

On Test Day

On test day, arrive at the test centre at least 45 minute prior to your test appointment. Please bring the following documents with you:

  • Confirmation email printout
  • Admit Card: Candidates are required to download their NMAT by GMAC™ Admit Card from their NMAT by GMAC account.
  • One valid Photo ID and another Signature ID in original form must be presented from the list below for candidates taking test at test centres in India:

ID Requirements

  • List of Photo IDs (containing your name and photo)
    • Passport issued by the Government of India
    • PAN Card issued by the Government of India
    • Voter’s ID Card
    • UID/Aadhaar Card
  • List of Signature IDs (containing candidate name and signature)
    • Passport issued by the Government of India
    • PAN Card issued by the Government of India
    • Debit/Credit Card
    • Driver’s License
  • One photocopy of the Photo ID for submission at the test centre.
  • Important: If you are unable to produce the above forms of valid ID (non– expired, original format), Admit Card or confirmation email printout you will not be admitted into the testing room and you will not receive a test fee refund.
  • Following are not acceptable as IDs on the day of the test:-
    • Learner’s driver’s license
    • Photocopies (attested or otherwise)
    • Notarized copies
  • Important: If you are unable to produce the above forms of valid ID (non– expired, original format), Admit Card or confirmation email printout you will not be admitted into the testing room and will not receive a test fee refund.
  • Candidates taking test at international test centres are required to bring following documents on the day of test at the test centre:
  • Confirmation email printout
  • Admit Card: Candidates are required to download their NMAT by GMAC™ Admit Card from their NMAT by GMAC account
  • Original paasport (valid and non-expired) and a photocopy of the passport
  • Important: If you are unable to produce the above forms of valid ID (non– expired, original format), Admit Card or confirmation email printout you will not be admitted into the testing room and will not receive a test fee refund.

Admit Card

  • Admit Card is a document containing your registration details and photograph. In order to take the NMAT by GMAC™ exam, you are required to produce the Admit Card along with other necessary documents on the day of the test.
  • You are required to upload your photographs as per the specification provided on the registration website
  • You will be able to print your Admit Card with photograph after the payment is accepted by GMAC.
  • You will be required to carry the Admit Card to the test centre and get it signed by the test administrator at the designated place on the day of the test.
  • If you are opting to retake the exam you must retain the ‘same’ Admit Card that you carried for the first / previous attempt (signed and stamped by the test administrator). You will be required to produce the ‘same’ Admit Card and will have to get it signed and stamped at the test centre where you appear, for you to retake the exam. Please note you may or may not get the same test centre as allotted to you for your previous attempt(s).

Schools may ask you to present a signed Admit Card to verify that you have completed the NMAT by GMAC™ exam. Please check that your printed photograph on your Admit Card is clearly visible. If the photo is blank or not clearly visible, contact the help desk on nmat.org.in or email nmatsupport@gmac.com to update the photo. You will not be allowed to test if the test administrator is unable to match your photo. Please remember to carry this Admit Card to the testing centre on the day of your scheduled exam. If you fail to do so, you will not be allowed to test. In addition to this Admit Card, you will be required to present other identification documents (original and non-expired) as specified on nmat.org.in to be allowed to test. Make sure that the test administrator signs the Admit Card at the designated place.

Please retain the signed Admit Card until your school admission process is complete.

Post-Check In

After you are checked in for your appointment by the test centre administrator, you will be taken to

Non-Disclosure Agreement

  • After the welcome screen, you will be presented with a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) screen. You must accept the NDA in order to proceed with the test.
  • You must click on “Yes, I Accept” on the NDA screen to start your test. In case you click on “No, I do not Accept” deliberately or by mistake, you will be prompted to change the option and if you still click on “No, I do not Accept”, your test will end. You will not be able to resume the test that day under any circumstances. Test centre staff will not be able to reverse the acceptance and you will lose the test attempt and forfeit the test fee.

Section Order Selection

  • The NMAT by GMAC™ exam allows you to select your preferred section order, which means you can choose the order of NMAT by GMAC™ sections to be tested on.
  • At the end of each section, you will be presented with a Review screen to identify the questions that you have left incomplete or flagged for review while attempting the test. You can go directly to specific questions by clicking on the number on the Review screen.
  • Each of the three sections has individual section timings and you have to answer and review the questions of the particular section within the allotted time.
  • In case you complete the section (answering and reviewing) before the section time expires, any balance of time will not be added to the next section(s). The next section has its own time allocation and you must complete the section in the allotted section time.
